Debra is a Venture Partner with Lyra Ventures, a global fund that invests in companies reinventing the business of fashion. She is deeply involved in the industry as a Board Director, advisor and consultant, working with innovative brands and technology businesses, particularly those at the intersection of popular culture, fashion and the metaverse.

What was your "ah-ha" moment in life, where you "made-it" and how did you feel?


My life has been punctuated by not one but an ongoing series of different "ah-ha!" as well as "oh no!" moments. The ah-ha is enthralling, satisfying, a relief - even if it's fleeting - and it's this feeling that provides the momentum to push through the not-so-greattimes.


What are your favourite jewellery pieces that have special value to you?


The pieces of jewellery from my mother and my maternal grandmother hold special meaning because they reflect their journeys across continents and through challenging times.


What is your definition of success?


Success is a day well lived, and the opportunity to do it again, only better.


What is something important you would like future generations to grow up knowing?


Live life, take risks (although not at the expense of others); fall over and make mistakes, just be sure you learn from them.
